Solved, not drawn
The shank is a profile swept around your ring size. The claws sit outside the girdle and fold over the crown, where a bench would put them. The mesh is watertight, which is what makes its volume mean anything — and the volume is where the price comes from.
Priced from metal, not a table
Mesh becomes volume, volume times the density of the alloy becomes grams, grams meet a rate card. Narrow the band and the price falls, because there is less platinum in it. Nothing in that chain is looked up or estimated, which is why the figure survives contact with a real quote.
Craftable or clearly labelled
Under 1.6 mm a shank wears thin within a decade. An elongated stone needs four claws, because its points are the vulnerable part. You are told while you are still designing — not after you have fallen for something a workshop will refuse.
